What's New @ LTLShip.com?
ELECTRONIC SED FILINGS NOW MANDATORY
The US Census Bureau Shipper’s Export Declaration (SED) has long been required for all freight shipped overseas whose value exceeds $2500.

For our customers, this will affect only shipments to Puerto Rico; freight with a Canadian or Mexican destination goes by truck, not ship.

The Census Bureau now requires that export declarations be filed electronically. This can be done by the shipper through the Automated Export Systems AES Direct website. Customers using Yellow or Roadway can file a letter of authorization with Yellow and/or Roadway, as appropriate, and the carrier will file the SED for a $25 fee per shipment. The letter of authorization must be submitted on the shipper’s letterhead.

For exported shipments that do not require a SED, the Bill of Lading should note: “Value less than $2500 per schedule B. NO SED/AES required."

NEW FEATURES: SEPTEMBER 30, 2008
New features involving hazardous materials (hazmat) shipments have now been implemented.

These affect both shipper and admin users, and will require changes to commodity lists and result in hazmat information being presented differently on Bills of Lading to conform to new DOT regulations that will take effect in 2013. Implementation notes for shipper users are here; notes for admin users are here.

These changes affect only hazmat shipments.
